Help us represent BYU at the SHPE National Convention!

WHY HELP?

With over 10,000 attendees expected, the SHPE National Convention is the largest gathering of Hispanics in STEM every year. This year, the convention will be held in North Carolina. Our goal is to bring 35 Hispanic engineering students to represent BYU at competitions, networking, and research expositions. Your involvement as a contributor would make all the difference in helping us achieve our goal.

OUR MISSION & VISION

Our mission is to empower the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development.

We envision a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.

ABOUT SHPE BYU

SHPE at Brigham Young University was founded in 2008 by a group of avid students looking to help other Hispanics grow their careers in STEM. Since established, SHPE BYU members have received multiple awards, including the Young Investigator Award, Design Challenge First Place, and Innovation Challenge Third Place. Now working at Microsoft, General Motors, Northrop Grumman, and many others, SHPE BYU alumni frequently reach out to remind us how important SHPE was in their career development.

2022-2023 GOALS

2023 will be a key year for BYU SHPE. For the first time in 30 years, the SHPE National Convention will be held in Salt Lake City Utah. With over 10,000 attendees expected, the SHPE National Convention is the largest gathering of Hispanics in STEM in the country, bringing 175+ exhibitors specifically focused on recruiting Hispanic talent.

In preparation for 2023, this year we aim to grow our membership 10x, arming every student with the skills, connections and economic means to reach their career goals next summer. It is critical then to involve as many of our members in the National Conference in North Carolina this year. We are aiming to bring 35 Hispanic engineering students to represent BYU at competitions, networking, and research expositions. Your involvement as a contributor would make all the difference in helping us achieve our goal.
